My name is Mario Pérez and I am a native of San Luis Obispo County. I have been a soccer coach for the past twenty-one (21) years, starting as a recreation coach from 1989 – 1993. I was the Head Coach for SLO Soccer Club Fury (1994 - 1999) and the SLO Soccer Club Fire (1999 - 2004). Further, I was the Head Coach for the Boys JV Soccer at St. Joseph High School, in Santa Maria (1997 - 1998) and the Head Coach for the Girls Varsity Soccer at Templeton High School (2001 – 2007), winning two C.I.F. Championship titles.

I joined Madrid Premier (formerly Atletico Madrid) in 2005 and I am currently the Head Coach for the Madrid Black ’97 North team. Additionally, I am currently the Director of Coaches for Atascadero Youth Soccer Association (2004 – present) and have worked as a staff member for Team Soccer Direct Summer Camps, based in Thousand Oaks, CA, and with the Atascadero Youth Academy.

I hold a USSF "D" License, as well as NSCAA National Diploma, Advanced Regional Diploma, Regional Diploma, National Youth Diploma, and Level 1 Goalkeeper Diploma. I also possess AYSO Certification for Safe Haven Coach, U10 Coach, U12 Coach, and Coach Administrator. I subscribe to the Women’s Sports Foundation’s GoGirlGo! Program. Moreover, I attended the Coaching the Female Athlete Specialty Course, at Long Beach State University, in October 2007. The event was sponsored by Cal South and the LA84 Foundation and focused on the challenges in the female game. The instructors were Jillian Ellis, Head Coach, UCLA and U.S. Women’s U-20 National team; Mauricio Ingrassia, Head Coach, Long Beach State; and Ali Khosroshahin, Head Coach, USC. Further, I attended the 2010 Soccer Champions Coaches’ Clinic. The instructors were Mia Hamm, World Cup & USA Olympic Champion; Jillian Ellis Head Coach, UCLA; Tony DiCicco, World Cup Champion & USA Olympic Gold Medalist Coach; Bruce Arena, Current L.A. Galaxy Head Coach & U.S. Men’s National Team Coach; Ralph Perez, Past U.S. Soccer National Coach, former L.A. Galaxy Coach, and Current Head Coach, University of Redlands; Ray Reid, University of Connecticut National Champion Collegiate Men’s Head Coach; and Bob Gansler, U.S. World Cup Coach and MLS Champion Coach. Additionally, I attended 2010 Speed Trainers USA’s Basic Soccer Speed Course for Coaches, in March 2010.

I am currently certified by American Red Cross in CPR and First Aid.

Philosophy: To promote and teach the fundamental skills of soccer in a safe, healthy, and fun environment for our youth.

Goal: To provide professional level training in order to develop the skills necessary to compete at the highest level while developing the most players possible.

Commitment: As a volunteer coach, I am committed to creating an environment that promotes:

2. Players treated in a fair and respectful manner.
3. Fosters good sportsmanship, respect for the game and its officials, hard work, discipline and a healthy competitive attitude.

b. The rewards of hard work and winning.
c. The lessons that can be learned from losing.
